Saudi Arabia is planning to introduce a super-fast hyperloop train transportation system that will connect the cities of Jeddah and Makkah. This project aims to reduce the travel time between two cities by just five minutes. Saudi Arabia has worked with a company called Virgin Hyperloop, which successfully conducted its first passenger test in 2020. The distance between Jeddah and Makkah is approximately 80 kilometers.
The new transportation system will also significantly reduce the travel time between Riyadh and Jeddah, which currently takes several hours by road. Instead, the hyperloop will complete the journey in less than one hour. The hyperloop technology works by creating a nearly empty space inside a tube, allowing the pods to travel at high speeds with minimal power consumption and very little air resistance. These pods, powered by batteries, can reach speeds of up to 1078 kilometers per hour. According to the company, the experience for passengers inside the hyperloop is comfortable, quiet, and safe.
The advancements in hyperloop technology not only enable the pods to travel at incredibly fast speeds but also provide a convenient and direct service from one destination to another. The hyperloop system will be able to transport tens of thousands of passengers per hour in each direction, similar to the capacity of an airplane, but without emitting any direct harmful emissions.
Saudi Arabia will be the first country to implement this innovative hyperloop technology. It is anticipated that the travel time between Riyadh and Dubai, which currently takes several hours by conventional means, will be reduced to just 51 minutes with the introduction of the hyperloop system.
In summary, Saudi Arabia is planning to launch a high-speed transportation system, known as the hyperloop, between the cities of Jeddah and Makkah. This system will drastically reduce travel times and is expected to complete the journey in just five minutes. The hyperloop technology, provided by Virgin Hyperloop, utilizes a near-vacuum environment inside a tube to achieve high speeds, low energy consumption, and minimal air resistance. This development will not only revolutionize transportation within the country but also potentially impact international travel, with the travel time between Riyadh and Dubai projected to be reduced to just 51 minutes.
