Saudi authorities arrested 18,538 people in one week for breaking residency, work, and border rules, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency on Saturday.
An official report revealed that 11,047 individuals were arrested for not following residency laws, 4,299 for attempting illegal border crossings, and 3,192 for issues related to work.
The report also highlighted that out of the 851 caught trying to enter the country unlawfully, 40% were from Yemen, 59% from Ethiopia, and 1 percent from other countries. Additionally, 55 people were apprehended trying to cross into neighboring countries, and six were held for aiding violators.
Authorities have already sent 47,977 offenders to their respective embassies for travel documents. Out of these, 1,892 completed travel reservations, and 9,927 were deported.
The Saudi Ministry of Interior warned that those aiding illegal entry, including providing transportation and shelter, could face up to 15 years in prison, a fine of up to SR1 million ($260,000), and the confiscation of vehicles and property.
